Crazy Stupid Love tells the story of the awkward Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) at the peak of middle-aged happiness. He has a great family, a great job, and is married to his high school sweetheart, but everything turns upside down when his wife, Emily (Julianne Moore), wants a divorce. Cal falls into a deep depression and starts spending all of his nights in a bar with his quirky self. As he stumbles through the bar telling the tale of his sadness to one person after another, the young player Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling) offers to take him under his wing to train him to be a lady killer. Jacob completely changes Cal’s person, but the only thing Cal really wants is his wife back. What follows is Cal trying to win back Emily, but the forces of nature pin Cal in one bad situation after another as he tries attempts to get Emily back.
This movie is the king of romantic comedies. Its not a chick flick because it has Steve Carell, but it isn’t very crude humor. It spoofs the whole spectrum of emotion, from depression to love and blows your mind as the mess of a story this film creates unfurls itself. I would recommend seeing this movie. Its a refreshing change from the usual dark comedy. Crazy Stupid Love is a great movie that’ll make you feel good for the characters, but will make you laugh at their misfortune seconds after you felt good for them. Its a great movie and I would say its definitely worth seeing.
