The news did not come easy and was a complete shock to most of the team. Coach Alyson Smith, entering her coaching career seven years ago, was a professional player from the start.
From earning MVP awards to winning the player of the year awards, Coach Smith climbed through her student years at the very top. She has coached multiple teams and led those teams to victories in the season and in tournaments. Whether you see her around FVHS for Physical Education or for soccer, everyone agrees that Coach Smith was a delight to be with all around.
Just this summer, Coach Smith had a beautiful daughter named Bryn. She was stoked about this news especially because it had been her dream to have a daughter. Sooner or later, Coach Smith had realized things were too good to be true. With having a newborn and being the girls’ soccer head coach, Smith felt torn. She knew she had to say goodbye to one of her dreams.
“This was a very difficult decision for me,” said Coach Smith, “but it is what is best for my family right now. I do not think I am able to give the program the amount of time and dedication that I have for the past 6 years and that the program deserves.”
The girls keep training for off season every day and are waiting for news of a new coach.
