Coming off two tough losses in Sunset league, water polo took on their next toughest opponent in league Los Alamitos who are ranked 5th in the county. The Barons went down early though and ended up losing 1-17.
In the first period the boys played hard keeping some of the possession and firing off shots to challenge Los Al. However after saves by Joe Romo (’12); the tides turned against the Barons and the Griffins netted goal after goal toward the end of the period. At the beginning of the 2nd period the Barons were facing a deficit of 0-5. Accustomed to going down early in the game the Barons kept the pressure up and continued to get decent shots and chances. However Los Alamitos continued their barrage of scoring ending the half 0-10.
At half changes were made and once again Chad Halstad (’14) replaced Romo in goal. The goals kept on coming for the Griffins and they kept consistent pressure on the Barons. It took till the 4th quarter but Kyle Breznau (’14) made the first and only strike for the barons in the game. Unable to keep Los Al off the board the game finished 1-17. The Barons have continued to struggle in the sunset league now posting a 0-3 record; the games against Marina and Edison are a must win for the Barons to place decently in the Sunset League.
