Now what sounds better than free stuff? Free stuff that’s shot out of a high air-pressure canon. ASB also will be launching out towels, t-shirts, and other items into the crowd. This year, the FVHS student government is trying to break free from past assemblies and have more crowd involvement.
Rather than holding the usual A and B assembly schedule, ASB chose a different approach to the annual assembly that would intensify school spirit and excitement about the bell game: one big assembly for the whole school.
“We wanted to do something completely different and we thought it’d be an awesome way to get more students involved,” says Cindy Nguyen (’12, ASB Assembly Commissioner). “One assembly would make the school feel more unified and brought together.”
Like past Edison Weeks, ASB dedicated hours of hard work, time, and effort into the assembly. Of course, they are also plastering the whole school with Edison Posters to pump up the school spirit. With a new approach to the Edison Assembly, it should be interesting to see how things fall into place.
He commented, “We’re going to have then even if it rains,” commented Mr. Fraser, the new Assistant Principal and Activities Director, when asked if he was excited for the new assembly. “Just kidding.”
The assembly was a concoction created by all of ASB members with Mr. Fraser spearheading the operation. Mr. Fraser took out his own time to help ASB prepare by managing the foundations, such as finding equipment and seaming the parts of the assembly together.
Whether or not the assembly turns out how it plans to be, FVHS is still fortunate to have a people that give up most of their free time for their school. I mean, seriously, I can’t even fathom the thought at staying at school until 10:00 at night or later making posters.
After I’m done with school, I don’t hang around. I leave! Here’s to an amazing Edison Week!
