There is a lot of skepticism around the new show, The X Factor, newly introduced to the States. The show was originally created by the esteemed Simon Cowell in the United Kingdom, where it was a massive success, producing the divine voices of Leona Lewis and Matt Cardle. Being the bloody brilliant bloke he is, Lord Cowell brought The X Factor to American television lovers as a means of “discovering the undiscovered” and to shed light on the songbirds whose voices wouldn’t be heard without the help of shows like American Idol and The Voice.
The question that many Barons have on their minds is: “What makes The X Factor any different from American Idol“, since the two sister shows did share Simon Cowell as one of their judges?”
The answer is that The X Factor has judges who actually know what they’re talking about, contrary to the so-called experts on American Idol (with the exception of Randy Jackson); the contestants are simply much more interesting since the show lets us delve deeper into their personal lives and heart-wrenching pasts; performances are presented more as a full-on production, rather than just a person on singing against the Idol’s notoriously blue background. The show also allows for the judges to take into account the opinions of the ordinary Joes and Joannas like u, since the very first audition is for contestants to perform in front of an audience of 3 or 4 thousand people.
Be sure to tune in on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 PM on FOX and decide for yourself whether or not it really is better than Idol and The Voice!
