Craving frozen yogurt? Visit the new Yogurtland shop recently opened on Brookhurst! Nestled in a popular location off Brookhurst St. and Westminster Ave., the new Yogurtland shop draws in its own customers as well as those from nearby Volcano Tea and The Boiling Crab. It’s a tad small and cramped – there are only about three or four tables in the shop, with one long sofa adjoining three of the tables – but the friendly service makes one forget their claustrophobia, despite the fact that the store is usually packed.
The majority of Yogurtland’s offered flavors are dessert-based, a disappointment to those who prefer fruity flavors. Dessert lovers will find joy in flavors such as Milk Chocolate Hazelnut, Double Cookies & Cream, or Dutch Chocolate, to name only a few. The small variety of topping is slightly disappointing. The popping strawberries, for example, taste like cherry-flavored cough syrup, and they need to be stabbed multiple times in order to actually pop. The tables are rather small – only one chair is placed across the sofa per table. To the more introverted of people, the long sofa is rather unnecessary asit hinders privacy. To the social butterflies, it’s appealing since it forces strangers at all three tables to interact.
However, for a small shop, the new Yogurtland offers a wide variety of flavors – not as many as larger stores such as Yogurt Passion, but enough to satisfy the fickle shopper – and customers are handed a large stack of sample cups upon entrance, so one gets the chance to taste each flavor before making the final purchase. Often, the final purchase turns out to be pleasantly surprising; Yogurtland’s frozen yogurt sells its product at a lower price than most yogurt chain stores – somewhere between thirty to thirty-five cents an ounce.
Yogurtland is the ideal place to go for those who want to meet new people or for those who just want to grab yogurt with friends in a laid-back environment. Either way, the tasty dessert and the engaging workers are worth the visit.
