Some Nights is the second album release from an American Rock band named Fun. It was recorded through Fueled by Ramen, produced in 2011, and released on February 21, 2012. The group was influenced by Kayne West, an American rapper. This album has many singles, but it’s top hit single, “We Are Young” received a number one recognition from Billboard’s Top 100 and mix to positive reviews according to Metacritics.
The album introduced a song called Some Nights. It plays a nice piano rhythm in the beginning of the album, but the song sounds too classical especially for their band. The song talks about them going through goals they set out to do each night. Some of their nights are good, but some nights can go very bad. The introduction to the album is overall good, but the sound didn’t seem to represent the band.
The album has singles that are good, but it’s top hit single is “ We Are Young”. Due to this song, the album has garnered many positive reviews. It currently holds a spot in the the top 100 on Youtube and number one on Billboard’s Top 100. This song reminds some people that they are young and can do anything. Their music video features chaos in the bar and at one point, there was a fruit ninja allusion. The beat in this single is interesting and makes everyone want to sing the chorus part over and over again. At first, they come off as an old band like Queen, but they have a good lead singer Nate Ruess. The song also features Janalle Monáe who makes the song sound very soulful and hooks the listener in. If you haven’t heard this song, you should listen to experience the amazing vocals and harmony.
Overall, this album is enjoyable and even though some of singles in the album are not great, the band is awesome. The lead singer and band have a lot of talent. If you haven’t listened to the album, I suggest listening it because you will not be disappointed!
