”]Snazzy music from the 1920s welcomes the audience to the exciting show that is The Drowsy Chaperone.
A sad, nostalgic old man listens to the soundtrack of his favorite Broadway musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, which is simultaneously performed on stage. The musical we experience with the old man is the story of a young woman torn between her acting career and her fiancé, while many other side stories take place.
Each and every actor give it their all, and it shows. Zachary Billetter, as the Man in the Chair, amusingly leads the audience through the show, whose attitudinal commentary and matching facial expressions make him an unforgettable performer.
Julianne Ruck, as Janet van de Graaff, amazes the crowd with her immense talent and stage presence, while Chelsea Harvey, as Kitty, and Michael Flores, as Adolpho, completely transform into their uniquely zany characters.
At the same time, Catie Beck, as Mrs. Tottendale, and Sarah Shammaa, as Trix, surprised the audience with their remarkable talent, adding greatly to the overall success of the performance.
To add to the 1920s atmosphere, the costumes (designed by Ally Fiallo and Vivian Tran) and set (designed by Erin Bola, Avril Carrillo, and Julia Nguyen) were expertly constructed and characteristic of the era.
Tickets are sold at lunch and after school outside the Theatre Room (309) and cost $10 for students ($8 with Super Baron) and Senior Citizens, and $15 for adults.
