On Friday, June 1, and Saturday, June 2, FVHS Choir will be holding its final concert of the year, Broadway under the Stars. The performance will showcase the talented six FVHS Choral Ensembles as well as Fountain Valley Middle School Singers.
Concert choir will lead the show with its two numbers, “Run Freedom Run” from the musical Urinetown, and “Feeling Good” from the musical The Roar of the Greasepaint – the Smell of the Crowd.
A gender-battle theme will dominate the second half of the show with jaunty numbers emphasizing the relationships between men and women. Joseph Engelman and Julie Ruck will be harmoniously singing against each other in a duet regarding a couple’s quarrel.
Other songs will include a wife singing about her husband who isn’t present for half the year due to baseball season and an assembly of women singing about the stereotypical expectations which they must live up to.
Says concert choir member Quinton Dang ‘12, “It is going to be super entertaining and exciting, as we’re taking our performance to the next level. We’re dancing and singing to some great, catchy songs that I think anyone and everyone would enjoy.”
