On July 11, Andrew Chau, an incoming senior from Fountain Valley High School, was found and returned home safely after being reported missing the previous day.
Chau was reported missing shortly after 7 p.m. on July 10.
For the next 24 hours, friends, family and even strangers searched to find the missing Fountain Valley High School student.
A group on Facebook was created called “Find Andrew Chau” to help raise awareness. Not only did many FVHS students joined this page and tried to aid search, but also students from other schools and even adults joined the page to offer for help.
“I saw a bunch of my friends joining the page on Facebook,” said Stephanie Lakso, a student from Huntington Beach High School. “Although I didn’t even know who Andrew Chau was, I still joined the page and went with my friends who live in Fountain Valley to help search for him around neighborhoods.”
Searchers were kept updated and then first alerted of Chau’s return via the Facebook page. No information on where he was found or what had actually caused the run away was provided.
The Chau family said that they were not ready to release anymore information to the public than what had already been on the Facebook page explaining that they were too emotionally stressed on the subject.
I don’t feel this article is NOT appropriate for a school site. This child had some issues going on and does not need to be posted on a school site. He still goes to FVHS and isn’t fair to him.
