The first formal dance of the year, Homecoming, was held last Saturday, October 13, at K-1 Speed in Irvine, where the students had the opportunity to dress to impress, and have a wild time.
Two separate lines, divided by gender, each approached the bag check lines, and on to the entrance of K1 Speed. Upon entrance, students had access to a huge dance floor on the right, blasting with energizing music. Straight ahead laid the dessert “buffet”, arcade, card games, and the biggest attraction – the Go Kart track.
“It was really fun. Better than last years, but I wish the line for the Go Karts were shorter,” said Tien Nguyen (‘14).
Many students complained about overcrowding and large numbers of people cutting in line.
“I cutted in front of the line with my friends, and after waiting for 30 minutes, the line didn’t even move because of the people cutting,” explained Richard Nguyen (‘13).
Though majority of the students weren’t able to ride on the main attraction, some were content with not riding the Go Karts. “I just played poker all night. I made so much money!” said Aaron Sushinsky (‘13), though he knew that the money was fake.
Several others found their enjoyment in the unlimited-playing arcade, which included air hockey, basketball shooting, and even two pool tables, where intense battles were held. And when all else failed, there was always the dance floor, where most students spent their night.
Overall, Homecoming this year was a thrilling time for most students who attended, but not all.
Compared to last year, or the next year, Homecoming will always be special to every single person, by experience, either good or bad.
