Barons Celebrate Mole Day

Every October 23, the Chemistry classes at FVHS hold a special event called Mole Day to celebrate Avogadro’s number, 6.022 x 1023. Avogadro helped to discover the measuring unit, moles, used to balance chemical equations.

In order to receive credit, chemistry students had to arrive at school by 6:02 AM and turn in a Mole Day-themed project, whether it was baked goods or crafts. The halls were filled with tables laid out buffet-style with cakes, cookies, and brownies. Teachers displayed their students’ mole art: banner, buttons, t-shirts, and stuffed moles.

Chemistry teacher Mr. GO said, “Mole Day was incredible this year. We had twice as much food from last year, and  a whole lot more of participation, so I think it was very successful.”
