Congratulations to the dance team for a great job at this past weekends competition. The West Coast Elite Competition took place in San Diego and was the 2nd competition of the season. The jazz and lyrical teams both received 2nd place!! Haley Richartz also placed 2nd in the solo category.
All teams have started off strong and have great potential for the ongoing competition season.

Come out to Boys Soccer tomorrow at 3:00 as they take on Newport Harbor! There will be free hot chocolate for the first 100 students.
Hey Barons! We’ve got TWO rooter buses for the Boys Basketball game at Los Alamitos THIS Friday night! Tickets will go on sale tomorrow to the first 100 students. $5.00 for bus AND FOOD at the Financial Office! That’s right Barons, we will feed you too! You pay for the game when you get there, $1.00 for Super Baron or ASB, $6.00 without at the door. Come on Barons let’s pack THEIR gym!!

Attention Students: Homework is expanding to include English and History. Starting second semester, homework club will begin at 3pm. Please see the website and posters around campus for the updated schedule.
Got any used or un-used t-shirts? Want to help some poor injured animals? Well, here’s your chance! Sealeaf is hosting a t-shirt drive, so donate any used or unused t-shirts, bed sheets, linen, or other fabricated goods to your English class! All items will be donated to the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center to provide bedding for injured animals. The winning English class will get their very own giant stuffed duck to live in their classroom! Please make sure there are no tears or holes in the items donated. The deadline is February 15th. Those animals need your help!
Attention Senior Boys! Do you want to be crowned the next Mr. Baron? Bring your school spirit, your dance moves and your talent to this year’s Mr. Baron Competition. Applications are available in the Activities Office and are due February 15th.

The FVHS Girls Basketball program is hosting the Fountain Valley Fire Department vs. Fountain Valley Police Department Basketball Classic this Saturday, January 26 in the FVHS gym…come join the fun as the Fire Department battles the Police Department to regain their title. Tip-off is at 6:15 p.m. Vendors from around the community will be on hand starting at 5:30 p.m., as well as a silent auction with some great items. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased from a FVHS Girls Basketball player – students are $3; adults are $5. Tickets will also be available at the door – students $4; adults $6. Proceeds from this event, goes to the FVHS Girls Basketball program.
Don’t forget the deadline for Senior Salutations for the yearbook is Friday, January 25th. Half page is $175 and a full page is $275. After this date the prices will go up. See Mr. Langford in room 404.

Congratulations to our Boys Varsity Basketball for beating Marina on Friday night. The Barons are now 5 and 0 in league! This Friday night the Barons travel to Huntington Beach, tip-off is at 7:00pm. Go Barons!
Congratulations to Steele Escobedo who won the Five Counties Wrestling tournament in his weight class. He is the first Baron in 30 years to win a belt at Five Counties! Great Job Steele!

Attention all swimmers, swim team tryouts start today 6th period until 4 p.m. All students wanting to join the swim team must tryout. If you are a returning swimmer, you have to come by the pool deck to check-in during 6th period. If you want to join the team and are currently in a winter sport, we will have a second tryout in early February.

Seniors our Financial Aid Evening is Tonight! I hope every senior and their parent can attend this evening at 6:30pm in the Student Cafeteria. We will be going over the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), Cal Grants, Scholarships and much more. Whether you are attending OCC or UCLA financial aid applies to you! Come get all the info needed to help offset college costs. See you tonight at 6:30!
Student Parking will be hard to come by this Friday during the 5 Counties Wrestling Tournament. It is strongly recommended that students get a ride to school or make other arrangements where they will not need their cars. The church parking lot will be made available all day for those attending the wrestling tournament. If you cannot find parking in the lot you are assigned, you will need to park on the streets. Remember, even if you do find parking on campus before school, you may not find a spot when you return from lunch.

Congratulations to the dance team for an awesome job at their first competition of the season!!
The Officers, small hip hop and varsity hip hop teams all received 1st place!! The varsity jazz and coed hip hop teams placed 2nd. In the solo categories, Haley Richartz and Alyssa Loeffelman placed 2nd and Amanda Kolb received 1st Place! An amazing start to this competition!!
Congratulations to the Varsity Boys’ soccer team for their impressive 2-0 shutout win over the 3rd ranked Griffins. Oscar Fernandez scored his 4th goal of the season in league. Derek Huynen blasted a shot from about 40 yards out to finish off Los Al. The Barons are now tied for first place in league with a 3-1 record. Great start to the season boys! Good luck Wednesday night at Edison!
Our wrestlers continued their undefeated streak by beating Newport Harbor 63-12 last Wednesday. Over the weekend, they placed second at the Arroyo Tournament. Place winners were: Seniors – Nathan Bazan, Lennon Gomez, and Josh Madrid; Juniors – Bryant Vasquez and Quentin Gomez;
Sophomores – Drew Morgan, Kyle Nooke and Devin Stewart and Freshmen Blake Vasquez. Steele and Stone Escobedo both won their divisions and Steele was once again the tournament MVP. Make sure to support our wrestlers this Wednesday in our gym as they take on Los Alamitos.
Hey Barons! Thanks for coming out Friday night to the Silent Night/Shake that Snowflake game and dance…The stands were full of eager Barons waiting patiently for the 10th point and let me tell you… the place erupted as the ball went through the net! From there the basketball team took control and defeated the Griffins 59 to 47…The Fountain Valley Loud Crowd continues to be a dedicated group of students committed to FV athletics…
This Wednesday the Boys Basketball Team travels to Edison for a battle of first place…Not shocking the Chargers are planning a….wait for it…wait for it….Silent Night Game against us… so original…Anyways, we are being challenged once again by the mighty Chargers…So get ready this Wednesday Night to go over to Edison and show them our FV spirit and help root our boys on to sole possession of first place in the Sunset League…
Baby it’s cold outside….That’s why tomorrow for the Girl’s soccer game here 3:00 @ FV ASB will be providing hot chocolate to the first 100 students in attendance…So grab your jacket, scarf and beanie and come cheer our girls on to victory!

Congratulations to our Boys Basketball Team on their victories over Huntington Beach last Friday, all three levels beat the Oilers. Varsity won 72 to 60. Great job Barons!
Our Baron wrestlers continued their domination over the break. The Varsity defeated HB 55-23, placed 4th at The Mann Classic, and 5th at the Asics Southern Ca Challenge where Senior Steele Escobedo was the champion and most valuable wrestler! The team is currently ranked 9th in Orange County and hope to repeat as Sunset League champions this season. Make sure to come out and support them at their first home meet this Wednesday vs Newport Harbor.

PSAT Results Night and Junior Parent Night will be held tomorrow night, Jan 8th at 6:30pm in the Student Cafeteria. Any sophomore or junior who took the test can pick up the results that evening. We will do a test interpretation and then juniors can stay for college and EAP information.
