After Barons basketball defeated Los Alamitos on Friday night, FVHS students were ready to party it up at the Shake that Snowflake Dance.
“The dance name changed from Pack The Gym to Shake That Snowflake because we wanted to have a more winter-themed dance name to add along with the snow effect during the game,” said ASB member Tricia Vuong (’14).
The gym doors opened up at 8:30 PM. Students crowded their way onto the dance floor as the DJ pumped up the music, playing songs like “Gangnam Style,” “Beauty and a Beat,” and “Cupid Shuffle.”
Andre Gwyn (’13) said, “The light scheme was pretty good.” Neon lights at the winter dance allowed white shirts and teeth to glow brightly in the dark gym.
“The lighting and DJ was provided by the entertainment company Level Up,” Vuong said. “They were the ones who provided the set up from Baron Games last year and the Glow Show this year as well. ”
“The music just didn’t have a good beat to dance to,” said Debbie Pham (’13).
“I liked the Pack The Gym dance more because it had more people and the atmosphere was more fun,” Tien Nguyen stated (’14).
According to Vuong, “There [were] maybe around 300-400 students this year…probably the same as last year’s Pack the Gym.”
“I think it was hard to advertise because it was the Friday back from Winter Break, but that was the only game day that would work out. So, hopefully next year we can improve on choosing a better date where we would have more time to spread the word,” Vuong said.
