Tonight’s game on January 16, 2013 against Edison was nicknamed “The Bell Game of Basketball” – and rightfully so as the Barons zip past the Chargers to bring home the “bell,” 63-58. Baron fans couldn’t hold in their pride and excitement that they burst from the bleachers to embrace their 4-0 champion-bound boys.

A good inside game by Josh Armstrong (’13) and area shooting by Joey Petersen (’13) was matched by Edison’s smart passing to open shots. The Barons ended the first quarter in the lead, 14-10.

The game intensified as Edison took the lead. The Barons managed to pull even by the end of the first half, making the score 30-30.

Edison pulled ahead once again by the end of the third quarter, with a 49-44 lead.

Everything just seemed to go right for Fountain Valley in the fourth quarter. It all started with a reverse layup by Josh Armstrong, giving the Barons a 60-58 point lead. A three-point shot from Joey Petersen sealed the deal, and the game ended 63-58 in favor of Fountain Valley.

Joey Petersen scored a league-high 19 points, while Josh Armstrong put up 17 points on the board and Jackson Gatlin 14.

The Barons will go down the road to meet Marina at their gym on Friday, January 18.
