On Wednesday, February 13th, FVHS students spent their English class period attending a guide advisement – dubbed “guidevisement” – presentation. The presentation lasted the entire period and included guidance counselors giving valuable advice to students about possible courses to take next year, as well as fullfilling the separate graduation and A-G requirements.
Teachers at the head of several elective departments also presented students with many elective choices and categories such as art and business. Within these categories they discussed the variety of classes and ROPs available for students to take, both on and off campus.
Mr. Eich encouraged students to broaden their horizons and take an art course, stating that “art is applicable in every carreer field.”
Mr. Eggert, head of the business department, also recommended students to take AP Economics, stating that “since it is a graduation requirement, students might as well get college credit for the class.”
During the presentation, guidance counselor also Mrs. Wong said, “I encourage students to take an ROP course to see what carreer path is right for them.”
All in all, guide advisement is particuarly important to Juniors who are planning how they spend their senior year. The presentation guides students on their track to college, reminding them of the courses required for this path, or in other words, the A-G requirements. It also keeps students on track with their studies and opens up their choices in picking what they desire to do.
