Catholic Barons went to the Anaheim Convention Center to attend Youth Day, an event dedicated to religious education workshops, liturgy, and rallies on February 21st.
Thousands of high school students across the Los Angeles Archdiocese and beyond missed school to convene early in the morning. They experienced the power of their faith as they attended a rally energized by the music of The Jacob and Matthew Band.
“Thousands of us sang in unison. It was a memorable experience and it was definitely worth going,” said Annie Bui (’13).
Prayer and different speakers were present at the arena, and Archbishop Jose Gomez concluded the gathering with mass. Convention workshops were also later held in a different, smaller conference rooms so students could hear firsthand speakers and do hands-on activities.
The theme this year was “Keep Calm – God’s got this.” The theme promoted prayer, volunteer work, support within a network of families and friends, and action.
“I decided to go this year because everyone who’d gone before hyped it up to the extreme, so I wanted to see whether it was as great as people made it to be,” said Bui. “[It was] definitely worth my lost hours of sleep!”
