Fountain Valley High School’s Culture Fair will celebrate community culture next week.
On March 22nd from 4 to 9 PM, clubs will have booths set up around the bowl, as all different types of foods from various cultures are sold. There will also be fun activities and performances at the fair.
In addition to the variety of food sold at the fair, entertainment will also be provided. Performances will include Sword Dancing, The Originalities, Mad Maxx, Ane Thanh Lion Dancing, GOGO 13, and Tupua Polynesian Production.
From March 18th to March 22nd, students are also encouraged to participate in lunchtime activities and dress-up days.
“We thought it would be a fun and creative way to represent different ethnicities as salad dressings,” ASB member Rachel Philips (’14) said.
Thousand Island Tuesday, Caesar/Italian Wednesday, Ranch Thursday, and Ethnicity Friday will be the dress-up days for next week.
ASB member Sarina Dayal (’13) said, “Friday is always a day where students wear traditional clothing from their home country, and celebrate their own cultures.”
Each day will also be accompanied with a lunchtime activity. On Tuesday, students can play “Pass the Coconut,” a takeoff on the traditional game Hot Potato. On Wednesday, players can compete in a “toilet paper toga” competition, and on Thursday students can pie “cows” (ASB members) during lunch.
“Overall, we are trying to create more of a community atmosphere this year,” says Dayal. “We want to invite future Barons and members of the community to come celebrate with us, and hopefully it will be a successful fundraiser for the clubs as well.”
The International Fair will begin at 4 PM at FVHS on Friday, March 22.
