After two weeks, the March Madness basketball tournament, which pitted five-member teams of students and teachers against each other, ended last Wednesday, March 20.
The event was hosted by ASB.
In a hard-fought championship match, The Disciples beat Thank You Based God with a score of 9-8 and each player earned an In-N-Out gift card to celebrate their victory.
The victors were nothing short of confident throughout the tournament.
“I knew my team was probably going to win,” said Varsity basketball captain Josh Armstrong (‘13). “We had some of the best athletes in the school on our team.”
Jason Baker (‘13), Isaiah Davis (‘13), Jacob Peralta (‘13), and Chris D’etrimont joined Armstrong to make up the winning team.
ASB member and tournament participant Paul Do (‘13) said, “I really liked the tournament and thought it was a pretty good way to blow off steam.”
The games provided exciting lunchtime entertainment for all of the players, as well as the students, the teachers and other staff in the audience.
Harrison Nguyen (‘14), who came each day to see the matches, said, “I really liked it this year. The teams were fairly well-matched and I think everyone generally played fairly. It was a perfect way to connect the student body over something as simple as basketball.”
