FVHS track went to Huntington Beach High School’s track for their first meet of the season on Thursday, March 21st. Barons did well, winning most of their races.
Josh Cerda (’13) got 2nd place in the 400 meter for boys when he ended up tripping and rolling towards the finish line.
Sabrina Castaneda (’14) won 1st in the 100 meter for girls.
Aini Morales (’13) got 1st in her 800 meter for girls, while Amber Bragdon (’14) placed second behind her.
“There wasn’t very many Huntington Beach girls to run against but it was good breezy day to run the 800. It was also a perfect day for a personal record,” Morales said.
Nick Malone (’16) got 1st in the 100 meter for boys.
Will Kocal (’13) won 1st in the 800 meter for boys.
Erica Davis (’14) won in the hurdles for girls.
Muaz Ilyas (’13) placed first in hurdles for boys while Ramsey Husain (’14) won second and Mitchell Stockton (’13) was third.
Alyssa Tao (’13) ran in lane 4 for the 200 meter and received 1st place.
Nick Malone (’16) got 1st in the 200 meter for boys while Noah Rivard (’14) got 2nd.
“It was pretty good. I ran a 200 and I got 23.16 while Nick got 23.17. He really pushed me to get that personal record today. I feel great about it because it’s my best time of the year,” Rivard said.
In the girls 2 mile run, Stephanie Fedele (’13) got 1st place.
In the boys 2 mile run, David Abraham (’14) was beaten by an Oiler and placed second.
In pole vaulting, Ty Mason (’13) placed 1st, Jason McKinnon (’13) placed 2nd and Nick Man (’14) placed third.
In girl’s pole vaulting, Erica Davis (’14) got 1st place, Courtney Causer (’14) got 2nd place, and Amanda Johnson (’14) got 3rd place.
Overall, FVHS track did well for their first meet for their starting season. Their next meet will be at Edison High School against Edison and Los Alamitos.
