Choir students won multiple awards at the Heritage Music Festival in San Diego last weekend.
Le Petit Neuf, FVHS’s girls jazz group, won first place in their category. Troubadours, Concert Choir, and the BaronTones all won second place, and Les Chanteurs added another award with second place.
The day before competition, choir sang the national anthem for the Padres vs. Dodgers game. After the performance they were able to enjoy the rest of the game from their baseline seats.
The students also were given the opportunity to visit the San Diego Zoo, watch SeaWorld shows, and explore the San Diego State University campus.
At San Diego State University, choir performed with Dr. Patrick Walders and the SDSU Chamber Choir. Then they attended the university’s International Food Fair to have a taste of culture. They also visited the Old Globe Theater, where they watched a dark, comedic musical entitled A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.
As a whole, the tour gave students more performance experience as well as entertainment. “I was really honored and felt excited because I was granted such a great opportunity,” said Adrian Tran (‘14).
