FVHS Choir put on an impressive display of student talent featuring all of the high school choirs and middle school singers last Monday, June 3.
The opening number, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” showcased the entire choir, highlighting soloists such as Meagan Faller (’13) and Brandon Doan (’14).
The rest of the first act was a mixture of performances by all of the Baron choirs. The Troubadour girls performed a religious song a capella with only a drumbeat in the background. Les Chanteurs choir performed their rendition of “Fame” from the musical Fame, and the Concert Choir and middle school choir filled the stage with performances of Broadway classics such as “Footloose.”
Yvonne Le (’13), member of the Les Chauteurs choir, said, “This concert is the best concert of they year because it has a variety of music and we all prepared for months for this event to happen.”
The second half of the concert featured the Troubadours, FVHS’s most prestigious choral group, performing “I Won’t Grow Up,” a compilation of songs that reminisced about the fun of childhood.
Troubadour Meagan Faller, a one-year senior of this elite group, said, “We worked really hard and I think the show went really well. All of the groups were nervous, but I think we all overcame that.”
The Cerritos Performing Arts Center, where the concert was held, accommodated the large crowd that gathered to witness the performance. Snacks were provided for a discounted rate during the twenty-minute intermission.
Administrator Mr. Joe Fraser, who watched the show, said, “There were a lot of tunes I recognized and got to sing along with and clap along with, so it was a much more interactive show. There were a lot of solo acts which was great to highlight some of the singers in the groups.”
