Colorful posters, waving flags, and shouting students were all elements of the annual FVHS Club Rush event last week.
Club Rush took place around the bowl from Wednesday to Friday. Clubs set up tables with sign-up sheets during lunchtime, allowing students of all grade levels to check out clubs and become more involved in school.
“It’s really cool how everyone is coming around to serve,” said Brian Nguyen (’17). “It’s really interactive and bringing people together.”
Clubs attempted to recruit students with posters, fliers and complimentary trinkets.
“We just try to be really friendly and outgoing like screaming,” said Make-a-Wish member Vananh Nguyen (’14). “Then we hold posters and walk around campus and just be really friendly and make people feel like we’re like family.”
Clubs such as Friday Night Live handed out pencils, while Joni’s Angels members distributed bottles of bubbles.
“I’m sad I didn’t join clubs like this freshman year,” Human to Human member Cole Nakashima (’14) stated. “So doing it now, I feel like I’m a little late and especially last year I had a lot of fun with the club and now I’m taking over as president,”
Clubs provide an environment to meet new people. Members work toward a common goal, whether to learn, serve, or share interests.
“I’m excited to join clubs and I feel that it helps a lot of like charities,” said Maya Thatsanaphonh (’16). “I think it’s a lot of fun and a good experience for people.”
