With September half-over, students have already experienced the first football game of the season, the Aloha Dance, and Club Rush. October will be packed full of events, football games, and even a dance.

Homecoming is an annual tradition featuring an assembly, a football game, and a dance, all packed into three fast-paced days. Nominations started Tuesday, with Top 20 voting on Thursday and Friday. Top 10 voting will be conducted the following Wednesday during third period.

The sports-themed assembly will take place Oct. 11 during third period. Homecoming king and queen will be announced that night at Westminster High School at 7 p.m. at halftime during the homecoming game. The dance will be held the following night on Oct. 12 from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney.

The following week will feature the return of the Think Pink football game. ASB will be selling Think Pink shirts again that week, hoping to donate even more money to charity than the fundraiser raised last year.

“Think Pink is a really exciting event for FVHS,” said ASB President Tricia Vuong (‘14). “It’s amazing when our school comes together to give back to the community; it’s really powerful.”

Two weeks after the Think Pink game, Bell Week begins. Five dress-up days, daily lunchtime activities, and the school’s only nighttime assembly all culminate in the Bell Game, which will take place Nov. 1 at OCC.

Although FVHS has not won the Bell Game in nine years, students are optimistic that with a new team and a new coach, things may turn around.

“The team has been working so hard to prepare for this game,” says Vuong, “and I know the students will be there to support them no matter what.”
