The mighty Barons faced off against the Banning Pilots last Thursday, resulting in a victory for FVHS football.
The Barons took a strong lead in the first quarter. Scott Schultz (‘14) scored a touchdown early in the first quarter, followed by an astounding kick from Jonah Mack (‘14) which gave the Barons a 7-0 lead in the first few minutes of gameplay. Three more Baron touchdowns quickly followed, bringing the score at the quarter to 28-0.
In the second quarter, FV continued to push hard against the Pilots. In the beginning of the second quarter, Banning scored their first touchdown. The Barons quickly responded as Isaiah Davis (‘14) scored a 91-yard touchdown on a kickoff return, bringing the score to 35-7. Banning ended the first half with one more field goal, breaking at 35-10.
After halftime, however, the Barons were determined not to lose their lead. Ryan Finley (‘14) ran an 85-yard touchdown, followed by a second touchdown from Davis, bringing the score to 49-10.
In the fourth quarter, Banning scored one more touchdown, before the lights went black and Barons went home celebrating a 49-17 victory against the Banning Pilots.
The Barons’ next football game will be next Friday, September 27, at Westminster High School as they face off against the Westminster Lions.
