FVHS held its annual Back to School Night for parents on Monday.
Parents spent the night in their students’ shoes, following schedules to learn more about the teachers and classes.
“The purpose of Back-to-School night is for parents to put a face to a name, primarily, so they can see their sons and daughters teachers, learn a little about them as teachers, learn a little bit about the class policy and a little bit about the curriculum,” stated Principal Chris Herzfeld.
As the bells rang to signal the start and end of each period, some parents were seen asking for directions and sprinting across the campus in order to arrive at the classroom on time.
“I feel like I have my running shoes on,” said Tina Adams, mother of a freshman.
As parents spent around two hours going to class, they began to get an idea of what a classroom is like and what type of teacher their students have.
“I think there are a lot of good teachers. It’s best if the teachers … update on how their kids are doing,” said Jim Carr.
Back to School Night ended at around 8:30 p.m. “It was very informational for the parents, for someone who’s new to this,” Adams said.
