Boys cross country placed first at the Central Park Invitation Preview on Wednesday, with the boys running a record team time of 1:19:54.2.

In a heated race against Division 1 schools Edison, Huntington Beach, Marina, Los Alamitos, and Newport Harbor, Hunter Gulino (’14), Norberto Osorio (’17), David Abraham (’14), and Galyn Nash (’15) led hundreds of runners at the head of the pack in a 3-mile run.

From beginning to end of the rigorous race, the boys held onto their lead, making it clear that they were going to come out as the triumphant team.

Top performances came from Gulino, Osorio, and Abraham, who made strong finishes by placing in the top four.

“We did really well,” Abraham said. “We got a pack of three Fountain Valley runners to finish together.”

Although this is only a preview to scope out this year’s teams, varsity runner Alan Loi (’14) stated, “Our team’s looking stronger together.  Winning Sunset League Finals and going to CIF Finals seems very attainable.”

The next home meet will be at Central Park, Huntington Beach on Oct. 5 at 8 a.m.
