Early Wednesday morning, students began lining up outside the activities office to take advantage of the one-day sale and to secure their tickets for homecoming.
The ticket capacity this year sparked Barons to line up and get their tickets as early as possible. “I think that having that [capacity] ticked people off and made them want to go to homecoming even more and be one of the thousand that do get to go,” said Christine Phan (’14).
By 7 a.m., yellow tape marking the lines leading to the faculty lounge were already filled with students.
“I think [the capacity] definitely prompted the people to show up in the morning more than later,” said Jonathan Gayeon (’15).
The one-day sale gave students a discount of $25 from the original price, $75. “I think the $25 discount made people freak out,” said Chris Dang (’14). “It’s a great price.”
Barons will still be able to buy tickets until Oct. 10. However, ticket prices will be raised to $75 without Super Baron or ASB and $70 with.
The ticket capacity on ESPN Zone may possibly limit students from getting their tickets. “I think they’ll still get a ticket but it’s just more stressful for them,” Gayeon said. “I knew I was going for the one day sale and I don’t really see an issue about the cap.”
The venue at ESPN Zone is much to be anticipated this year. With two floors, students have plenty of things to do, such as a dessert bar, a beverage bar, games, and formal photos upstairs. “The DJ’s going to pipe in to all the TVs in the whole place; not only the music but videos, so you can be on the dance floor and have fun or upstairs or somewhere else and have fun and still feel like you’re part of everything that’s going on,” stated Assistant Principal of Activities Josh Lamar.
The homecoming game is on Oct. 11 against Marina at Westminster High School. The homecoming dance is at 8 p.m. on Oct. 12 at ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney.
