FVHS hosted its annual homecoming dance at the ESPN Zone located in Downtown Disney last Saturday night.
A week prior to the dance, students showed their school spirit by dressing up according to the themes. On Friday, the school pumped up the students for Homecoming by hosting an assembly with performances from the FVHS pep squad, the drum line, the dance team, and homecoming court.
At around 7:30 p.m. students began to line up for at the entrance of the ESPN Zone, and by 7:45 the line was getting long.
“I arrived a couple of minutes before the door opened and I sure am glad! Talk about long lines,” said Angie Ly (‘16).
As the clock struck 8, students were allowed to enter the venue. “The atmosphere was amazing and the dance floor was really fun! And it wasn’t overcrowded,” said Jenny Nguyen (‘14).
Some students preferred to spend time upstairs, playing games. The arcade was filled hockey tables, basketball hoops, skee-ball machines, target shooting, and motorbike racing.
“The upstairs was great and actually a great idea to have free games for people who didn’t want to dance,” said Audrey Vu (’16).
There was also a variety of snacks such as cookies, brownies, and ice cream.
“The free drinks and desserts were a bonus,” said Ly. “There was a make-your-own ice cream sundae bar on top of brownies, lemon bars, cookies…the possibilities were endless.”
The students considered the dance a success. “Homecoming was definitely a night to remember,” said Kathy Le (’16). “I believe that every homecoming gets better and better each year so I’m waiting for homecoming season to pass by soon.”
