FV wrestlers continued their success this past weekend. The freshmen team won the Peninsula Tournament with 14 placers. The Varsity went 6 and 1 taking 2nd place in the finals at the Southern California Duals. Loren Gomez, Carson Ayres, Kyle Knoke, Blake Vasquez, Alex Damscen, Quentin Gomez, and Isaiah Prado all took 2nd place. Bryant Vasquez, Stone Escobedo, and Andrew Morgan were all undefeated. Andrew upset the #8 ranked wrestler in the state from Poway HS! Congratulations to all of our wrestlers on a great start to the season.

Girls JV Basketball won 3 games in a row to capture the Consolation Championship of the Costa Mesa Tournament. Girls Varsity Basketball finished in 4th place in the Fountain Valley Tournament. Next games will be at Tesoro on Tuesday the 17th.
Barons, Ready for some real holiday cheer?! Our Vocal Music Program’s annual holiday concert – Deck the Halls with a Little Jazz– will do the trick! The concert is tomorrow night, the 17th at 7:00 p.m. at Calvary Church in Santa Ana, about a 10 minute drive from FVHS. All seven of our choirs will be performing in this festive performance! Tickets go on sale today at the school at lunch by Room 307 and are $10 for students. From the powerful sounds of our Troubadours to the crazy antics of Baron Choir, this is truly holiday entertainment at its best…… we hope to see you there!

FVHS Girls Varsity Soccer has 4 wins and 1 tie on the season and looks to extend their unbeaten streak as they take on Monrovia High School today at 4:30 at Huntington Beach HS. The Lady Barons next home match is against Godinez next Tuesday, Dec 17th @ 3pm at the stadium soccer field. Come on out and support the team!
The FVHS Surf Team competed in the All-Star League finals Wednesday. Congratulations to Kaden Bruner, Sage Oosterhof, John Hoyt and Eric Tello for their impressive semi-finals placings in their men’s shortboard heats. Aly Johns, Colleen Millican and Ian Hunter did some incredible surfing and made it all the way into the final heats. The bodyboarders had a stellar final heat with Cody Sizemore getting the 1st place win and Sasha Davis shredding his way into the 3rd place slot against Huntington, Edison and Marina. Awesome effort surfers!

Congratulations to girls water polo for winning their first games this weekend in San Diego at the Bronco Invitational! The highlight of the tournament was their comeback win in their final game Saturday. The girls came back from a 5 goal deficit to win 9 to 6 after playing through a downpour. Great job Ladies!
Our wrestlers began their season over the weekend at The Westminster Classic where they competed with 42 other teams. We took 4th place and had 9 individual placers. Medalist were: Quintin Gomez, Alex Damscen, David Galdamez 8th place; Carson Aires 6th place; Amador Rodriguez 5th place; Blake Vasquez 4th place and Stone Escobedo 2nd place. Junior Andrew Morgan and Senior Bryant Vasquez both won their division taking 1st place. The team is currently ranked 8th in the county with Stone, Andrew, and Bryant ranked in each of their divisions and CIF.

The varsity team’s next game is today at 4:45 against Laguna Hills at the Irvine Team Challenge while the JV and F/S teams compete this weekend at the Edison Charger Cup. Go Barons!
The Dance team’s annual Winter Show is this Sunday, Dec. 8th in the gym at 6:30. The team will be performing all of their routines for the upcoming competition season- Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical and Soloist will perform!! Here are your morning announcements for Monday, Dec. 2:
The boys finished eighth at the CIF Championships on Nov. 23. The place matched the highest finish in school history and set a record for lowest points scored at a CIF Championship with 185. Robert Osorio finished 8th overall and was named 2nd team All CIF. Robert also advanced as the top individual out of the Southern Section to the State Championships where he competed this past weekend and placed 13th in the state which earned him 2nd team All state as well. Robert will compete in the Footlocker West Regional Championships this Saturday where the top 10 finishers will advance to the National Championships in San Diego.

The FVHS Marching Band won the Gold Medal at the 2013 SCSBOA 5A Championships in Riverside Saturday before the break. FV also won best music, best visual effect, best music effect and best Color Guard. Each member was given a gold medal on the field during awards ending this tournament season. After winning over 58 trophies and beating over 150 marching bands in California, FV dominated the competition being UNDEFEATED this season including at the Las Vegas tournament. This has never happened before at FV…a new FVHS record. Congratulations again to our Marching Band. What’s next with the FVRR… Disneyland!
The Fountain Valley Cappies team continues to score big. Congratulations to critics Jackie Liu, Maya Greenfield-Thong, Erin Bola, who all had their reviews selected for publication in the OC Register. Congrats to Avril Carrillo whose review was published onto the OC Cappies Facebook. Keep up the great work!
