Congratulations to girls soccer – they are now in first place in the Sunset League following last week’s 3-1 victory over Huntington Beach and 1-1 tie with Newport Harbor. Keep it up girls!!
A Huge congratulations goes out to the dance team for an amazing job at their first competition of the season. The jazz team, the officers team, small and large hip hop teams and the character dance team ALL received 1st place!! The lyrical team and medium hop hop team both got 2nd place!
Soloist Becky Santillanes and Amanda Kolb earned 1st place in their solo category. What a great start to this years dance competition season!!
The FVHS Girls Basketball program is hosting the Fountain Valley Fire Department vs. Fountain Valley Police Department Basketball Classic on Saturday, January 25 in the FVHS gym…come join the fun as the Fire Department tries to defend last years win against the police. Tip-off is at 6:15 p.m. Vendors from around the community will be on hand starting at 5:30 p.m., as well as a silent auction with some great items. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased from a FVHS Girls Basketball player – students are $3; adults are $5. Tickets will also be available at the door – students $4; adults $6. Proceeds from this event, goes to the FVHS Girls Basketball program.
The cast and crew for the spring musical Young Frankenstein are being assembled. We are looking for musicians and people with an interest in construction, art, fashion design, sound, or electrics. If you are interested in joining our crew or live orchestra, please see Mr. Zick in room 309 at lunch

Congratulations to the Varsity CHEER Competition Team who did AWESOME at last Saturday’s USA Regional Competition. They got a bid to go to Nationals in Anaheim, March 28th-30th! Good luck to the Varsity SONG Competition Team, who will compete this Sunday at the USA Regionals in Brea!
Fountain Valley HS Girls Varsity Soccer wins their second Sunset League match in a row defeating the visiting HBHS Oilers 3 goals to 1. Kasey Reeve tallied 2 goals and Hannah Daye scored 1 goal. The lady Barons now sit at the top of the Sunset League at 2 wins and 0 losses. Their next match is this Thursday as they travel to Newport Harbor HS.

Congratulations to FVHS girls varsity soccer team for their 2-1 victory and 10th win on the season over the 2013 Sunset League defending champions, Los Alamitos High School! It was a huge night for the lady Barons who opened Sunset League play on the road against the 7th ranked division 1 Griffins! Goals by junior (captain), Valerie Holler and junior, Kasey Reeve, along with stellar defensive play led by junior goalkeeper, Alison Marlow and senior defender, Sutton Edwards sealed the win on a night when Los Al was celebrating the opening of their NEW turf stadium soccer field! Also, the Junior Varsity team held the Griffins to a scoreless draw in their first Sunset League matchup. Our next game will be at home tomorrow vs. Huntington Beach HS! GO BARONS!
The Varsity Wrestling team competed in their first league dual meet last Thursday night beating Huntington Beach 70-6 which happened to be their Senior night! Your FV wrestlers are currently ranked 4th in the County! Congratulations!
Congratulations to the JV boys’ soccer team for beating EDISON 4-1 in their sunset league opener. The Barons were led by David Engleman with two goals. David Volkert and Zachery Young each scored a goal to finish off the Chargers. Good luck Friday against Los Al.

Congratulations to the Varsity, JV and Frosh Soph girls soccer teams for their clean sweep victories over Ocean View HS yesterday in the last preseason match before Sunset League play begins Thursday at Los Alamitos HS. Senior, Brittney Stevens lead the varsity squad with 2 goals and the Baron defense held strong with another shutout win making it 8 shutouts in 9 wins this preseason . GREAT JOB BARONS!
The last chance to make the swim team is this Saturday, January 11th at 11 a.m. The pool deck will be open at 10:30 for athletes to check-in and warm-up.

The FVHS Girls Soccer teams finish up their preseason play hosting Oceanview tomorrow at 3 p.m. It’s also Senior Day for the varsity squad who have an impressive record of 8 wins 2 losses and 3 ties. So come on out cheer on the teams and show your Baron Pride!
Congratulations to the Boys’ Varsity Soccer team for making it to the quarter finals of the Marina tournament. The Barons were led by Isaac Garcia’s two goals and the hard work of Jacob Shubin who contributed one goal of his own. The Barons open up league play Wednesday night at Edison. Good luck!
Our Baron wrestlers continued their domination over the break. The Varsity placed fourth at The Mann Classic and second at the Asics Southern California Challenge where Junior Andrew Morgan was the champion at both tournaments! Other place winners include: Carson Aryes, Amador Rodriguez, Adrian Nguyen, Kyle Knooke, Blake, and Bryant Vasquez. The team is currently ranked 4th in Orange county and hope to repeat as 3x Sunset League champions this season. Make sure to come out and support them at their first home meet this Thursday vs. Huntington Beach.

Sophomores! Last October you took the PLAN Test and the results are back. We will be distributing the results tonight starting at 6:00pm in front of the cafeteria. At 6:30 p.m. Princeton Review will help you interpret the results.
Financial Aid Info for all Seniors! If you want help offsetting your college costs you must fill out the FAFSA. Tomorrow, Tuesday Jan. 7th we will be in the Cafeteria to help you. We will cover scholarships, Cal Grants and filling out the FAFSA. All seniors and parents should plan on attending Tues, Jan 7th at 6:30pm in the Cafeteria. (today, Jan 6 only)
