FVHS Troubadours went to USC to perform at an invitational festival in order to showcase their skills to other following high school and college choirs March 1.
Choir members demonstrated their talents by singing “Exultate Deo,” “Salve Regina,” “I Can Tell the World” and “Weeping Mary.”
Because the festival was a non-competitive event, Troubadours were able to have fun rather than focus on obtaining an award.
“The week of and before we all were required to come to 6:30 a.m. rehearsals instead of the usual time that zero period starts,” said Phoebe Bui (‘14). “There would also be days where we would have lunch rehearsals which we have every Wednesday, and if needed, we would have lunch rehearsals on other days and separate sectionals.”
During the event, Troubadours were also able to experience other schools perform their songs and were able to learn more from that experience. Although it was raining during their festival, they weren’t discouraged from the weather.
“Even though it was wet and rainy on that Saturday, and we sat through three hours of straight singing, doing festivals like the one at USC is really part of the entire Troubadours experience,” said Manuel Santiago (‘15).
“The experience that took place at that time was unbelievably breath taking,” said Abe Nguyen (‘15). “Being able to just share your passion with other students and conductors is something us troubadours look forward to all the time.”
The Troubadours will be performing at an upcoming concert March 31 at 7 p.m. at the Shoreline Church in Fountain Valley.
