For the first time, Fountain Valley’s volleyball program has introduced a youth camp for youngsters ranging from first graders to eighth graders.
The camp was held during the same time as the girls varsity practice for three weeks in July. Parents had the choice of enrolling their children in the program week by week, providing flexible schedule options.
The camp went hand-in-hand with the summer camp tryouts for the high school team, introducing younger siblings of those in high school to the sport as well.
It provided an opportunity for youngsters to learn the basic fundamentals of volleyball, and perhaps spark a child’s interest in the sport.
“I always wanted to have a youth camp at high school, and I thought it went great,” said head coach Adam Cutrell. “I expect it to grow and grow every year, and it was a lot of fun to spend time with some future Barons.”
