This year the FVHS Art Club made its way to Club Rush and was open to those who wanted to join. The group came together last spring in an effort to repaint the art hall and this year it is an official club on campus.
“I noticed that there is a kind of void as far as art related clubs went and I just kind of wanted to fill it,” said club president, Ester Abosch (’15).
The club started out by fixing scratched and vandalized paintings before the WASC evaluation last school year.
“We want to venture out to other halls like English and science for teachers who want the outside of their classes painted, but that’s really up to those departments,” said Tony Pash, an art teacher involved with the club.
Art club focuses on art but it does a lot more than paint school halls. The club is open to any new ideas. Pash wants to venture past FVHS and reach out to the community.
“Maybe it’s getting out to the community, like little galleries,” said Pash. “If there is an idea you want to add to the club, then we will definitely take it in and figure out where it will fit in.”
The art club is not only open to students with exceptional artistic talents. All students are welcome to join and contribute.
“People are a little apprehensive to join to things related to the arts, especially if they feel they are not good enough,” said Pash. “If it’s something you feel that you want to do, there is a spot for you.”
