ASB recently released applications for this school year’s Senate. ASB first mentioned Senate applications to freshmen at both Freshman Orientation and Link Crew, and strongly encouraged them to apply for the school year.
“I’m applying for Senate because I want to impact people’s lives, and I’ve noticed people on Senate and people on ASB, they have like a lot of school spirit, and I want to be like one of them,” Gabby Mai (’18) said.
Senate is a group of around 50 dedicated, committed and spirited students in the school that assists ASB in school activities such as the Glow Show and Baron Games. They also attend Game of the Week sports games with ASB and help them cheer on the Barons.
“I want to be more involved in the school because last year I didn’t join many clubs; I just joined one,” said Dylan Huynh (‘17).
The majority of the work Senate takes part in is designing and making posters for Bell Week. ASB and Senate work together to cover the entire bowl area and the front of the school with posters cheering on the Barons for the Bell Game.
“I’ve heard that Senate usually helps ASB members, and I would like to help them because I enjoy helping people and I find it interesting and it’s good to volunteer,” said Chelsea Huynh (’18). “It’s a good practice.”
ASB began interviewing applicants during the past week and the final list of members was posted on Monday at the Activities Office.
