With loud cheers and flashing glow sticks, FVHS has impressed students and the community for a third year in a row with their huge Bell Game pep rally, the Glow Show, last Thursday evening.
The spooky theme this year was, “Lift the Curse.” From the paint-drumming drum line to Sam Asuega’s (14′) fire show, the glow show brought students together to excite them for the annual Bell Game at Lambard Stadium in Orange Coast College.
ASB and the performing acts put in much effort to prepare for the show.
“We need to contact the sports captains, cheer, song team, etcetera, and for each assembly we want to bring something new to the performances. This glow show is the first year we have orchestra included as well as color guard, and a fire performance. It was something different, and never done before,”ASB commissioner Kris Nguyen (15’), one of the head producers of the glow show, said.
Many rehearsals took place to prepare for the big event. These practices of the Glow Show took place for more than three weeks. However, the practices paid off with a show that joined the community, staff, and students together for a common cause.
FVHS Spirit and the slogan, Baron for Life (B4L) were demonstrated throughout the show.
In the assembly students roared and cheered “I believe that we will win, I believe that we will win, I believe that we will win!” as the DJ’s and coaches gave their inspiring speeches.
After the show, football Coach Ray Fenton said, “there are great expectations for the team. We knew Edison was really good last year, but I now know all of the personalities and different personalities of all the kids. They’re really great players.”
Fenton believes that FVHS school spirit is crazy and unbelievably sincere.
“You could really feel the support rippling through the crowds as we chanted. Even other schools get a different vibe when they come to the Glow Show, there isn’t really any other school with such spirit other than at Fountain Valley,” said Katherine Hoang (’17).
