Red Cross ‘s annual “A Toy for Tots” drive been organized this month with English classes to provide attracts for the Children’s Safety Festival at the Santa Ana Red Cross Chapter.
Any new toys, as long as they aren’t violent, can be donated to the toy drive.
The Children’s Safety Festival Christmas themed is a charity event that is organized by the Orange County Red Cross Chapter in order to provide low-income families and kids with free toys and entertainment, so that families who otherwise would not be able to afford toys and decorations would be able to enjoy their winter holiday a bit more.
“We’re going to give the toys to the official Red Cross Chapter for the Festival, and kids from around the county can play with all the toys that are donated in our school toy drive,” club co-president Steve Phan (’17) said.
FVHS’s Red Cross club intends on assisting with the Children’s Safety Festival in other ways as well.
“Our club staff hands out gifts obtained from the Drive,” Phan said.
However, just maintaining the Toy Drive has been hard work.
“We need to pack boxes, encourage donations, and set up a booth for the Festival. It’s hard work, but it’s all in the Christmas spirit,” Phan said.
