Working Wardrobes, a club on campus, is looking to expand and publicize their club by hosting an office supply drive that will last until Monday, Jan. 20.
The club is a nonprofit organization in Costa Mesa that holds resume workshops and interview seminars to help unemployed people return to the workforce.
“We support Working Wardrobes by volunteering at their clothing warehouse, fundraising [for] unemployed people coping with difficult circumstances,” said Afraah Javed ’15, president of Working Wardrobes.
Bags are placed in all English classes where students can drop off new pens, notebooks, sticky notes and other office supplies. The drive has already started and will be going on until Jan. 20. Members of Working Wardrobes will pick up all the supplies before finals.
The club had several options for doing a drive but opted for an office supply drive because it would be most convenient for students.
“The office supplies drive is an easy way to donate to Working Wardrobes,” said Javed ’15. “All you need to do is look around your home for new office supplies and turn them into the collection bags in your English classroom.”
Through this drive, Working Wardrobes hopes to raise awareness about their club. The club has twenty members and hopes to gain more people by the end of the year.
Mahum Tahir (’16), vice president of the club, wants to see the club expand so that students can do more for the Working Wardrobes organization.
“The more people we involve, the more we can achieve,” said Tahir.
The club volunteers at the main Working Wardrobes warehouse in Costa Mesa and they hold meetings every Friday at lunch in room 412.
