With the use of a new innovative app and a superhero theme, ASB has been working diligently on this Friday’s Winter Assembly to increase audience involvement and excitement for the show.
The application is called, “Wham City Lights.” Built for Android and Apple devices, it takes place of the standard glow sticks during a show. The theme of the assembly is based on the Marvel’s Avengers.
The Wham City Lights App’s technology is used at events like America’s Got Talent, X-Factor, and various concerts in the United States. It uses the smartphone’s microphone to detect a special frequency, which then triggers the app to synchronize to the light show. Students can download this app in Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, depending on their device.
FVHS is only the second school to use this app. However, FVHS is the first to integrate this application into an assembly, for the first school used it for teacher orientations.
ASB plans to include more students, sports captains, staff and teachers during the show. This has been one of the most complex assemblies ASB has ever put on.
This particular assembly is also going to be based on the Marvel movie, The Avengers. Also, for the first time, there will to be a backdrop outside of the gym where students can take pictures with either before or after the assembly. Toward the end of the assembly, there is will be a special surprise planned for students.
“[We want to] make sure the students stay after the credits. Like stay seated during the credits and don’t leave, because we will have people telling students not to leave but just kind of like an early reminder, like when you see the credits just know that there will be something after the credits too,” said Kris Nguyen (’15), ASB Assembly Commissioner.
Don’t miss out on any action on Friday, Jan. 28, and remember to download the “Wham City Lights” app before the assembly.
“I hope that everyone will enjoy it [the assembly] especially the seniors because it is the last gym assembly of our high school careers. I also hope that everyone really appreciates the work that Assemblies Commissioners put into it,” said Monica Law(’15), ASB Assembly Commissioner.
