The Barons took another home game victory in a close match, with a score of 213-220, against Roosevelt High School on March 17.

The varsity teams from both ends maintained close intensity, heightening the suspense of the match, but the Fountain Valley varsity Barons ensured the final victory. A strong grip on concentration and focus from the Baron’s side was displayed out on the course, securing their confidence for a strong season.

Leadership from coach Carter Keyser and the time commitment for practice workouts were the factors presented in the Baron’s work ethic against Roosevelt High School.

According to Keyser, the boys have been focused in their games and workouts, but maintain enthusiasm for playoffs. Varsity goals for future success stemmed from key players Jesse Mooney (‘16) and Bailey Duda  (‘15) attributing to the victory against Roosevelt.

“All players played well and it seems as though they are improving at the right time,” said Keyser.

From the home game, Mooney believes the team represented the importance of teamwork and balance. The match set the team up for future expectations and success.

“As a team, we played very well. The rest of the team put up some great scores and gave us the edge over our opponent,” said Mooney.

Sealing a successful win against Roosevelt, Duda was able to contribute to the team by birdying hole nine. Duda’s performance and dedication to the team was able to unite the team and finish the triumphant match.

“The team is coming together strongly, and we are putting in the extra work to get the wins,” said Duda. “We aren’t all perfect; we all have our strengths and weaknesses, but as other players help with them, we become a stronger team as one.”

Golf shows excitement and hard work in their matches, expressing their ambition towards the spring season. The Barons continue to strive for success  in order to make a memorable season.

“I want the boys to be successful. I want to see continued improvement and a fighting spirit. That’s all I can ask for,” said Keyser.
