With prom right around the corner, Fountain Valley students express their mixed views on the choice to elect the first prom king and queen in the school’s history.

“I think it’s really cool…. but I don’t think the homecoming king and queen [should] be the same as the prom king and queen.” – Liz Byrnes (’15)

“I think I’m a bit against the idea because it will lower some girls’ self-esteem and it’s a popularity contest.” – Amber Ozriak (’18)

“I think it’s really cool…it’s another opportunity for another person to be well-known and happy.” – Michael Loi (’18)

“It’s pretty shady. It’s like, why do it right now?” – Aatena Hasan (’16)

“I think it’s true; it’s a popularity contest. I think it’s just who knows the most people would vote for them.” – Cole Swalter (’18)

“It’s kind of like a popularity contest and it’s all about status kind of.” – Melanie Tran (’16)

“It’s cool because the students get to elect and choose the people they chose to be prom king and queen. Like in the movies, you look forward to it.” – Remi Chicoine (’17)
