Many students are preparing for homecoming and are still excited despite the venue change. However, some students are still unsure whether or not they want to attend the event.
For some students, the venue played a major factor in whether or not they were going to attend homecoming. However, now that the venue has changed many Barons are having second thoughts about going.
“I don’t exactly like the atmosphere of dances. A lot of people tell me that it’s fun, but I’ve tried it, and I just don’t like going to dances,” Brandon Huynh (’16) said. “I do admit that I was interested in the venue at Irvine when I was showed pictures, but in the end, it was changed to somewhere else anyway.”
The venue change stirred so much concern that some students even had potential plans of hosting their own event similar to homecoming on the same night.
“The whole reason why homecoming was much looked forward to was because of the venue,” Jessica Dang (’16) said. “None of our plans were official but it was because of the new venue looking less fancy that made me feel like I shouldn’t go.”
Despite initial concern many students who were having second thoughts about going have changed their minds and seem content with the new venue.
“The price still makes me feel a bit iffy but I realize that this is my last chance at homecoming and spending it with my friends,” Dang said.
Students who still do not plan on attending are planning on doing other activities on the same day, but they do not discourage other students from going to homecoming.
“I’m [going to] go hang out with friends after the SAT,” Huynh said. “But I don’t really think that [homecoming] matters, because if you’re going to go dance, you’re probably not going to care where.”
