The Associated Student Body (ASB) and Senate have been working hard to get their posters done for Bell Week but unfortunately ran out of poster paper and are unable to get more due to time constraints.
With Bell Week coming up fast, ASB and Senate have been scrambling to get posters made. During the summer, ASB members were required to make a minimum of 40 posters each. Then, after the senators were chosen, they were required to make a minimum of 35 posters each.
With 28 ASB members and 85 Senate members, they went through all the rolls of poster very quickly. This is the first time that ASB has run out of posters, but last year they ran out of tape. The ASB Publicity Commissioners ordered new rolls of paper but they will not be delivered before bell week. This situation created a lot of stress for both ASB and Senate but everything will be alright since they have more than enough posters.
“It honestly didn’t really affect us, in fact running out of paper was actually a good sign that we have a sufficient amount of posters to cover the entire school,” said Timothy Shimizu (‘17)
ASB and Senate made over 4,000 posters for this year’s Bell Week but there is a rising concern among Senate members about the amount of posters they had to make. Some Senate members weren’t able to fulfill their minimum of 35 due to the posters running out and are worried they’re going to get cut off because of it. However, according to ASB Parliamentarian Lindsay Brown (‘16), the poster situation will not affect Senate’s second cut.
“A lot of them [senate members] felt as though their poster count was their ticket in or out of Senate. That’s not the case,” said Brown. “A person can still finish their posters and still be kicked off of senate… It’s [poster count] not the deciding factor.”
Last weekend, ASB and Senate started putting up the posters and decorating the school for bell week. Saturday was oriented on painting the windows as well as hanging up posters and Sunday was dedicated to putting up posters.
“We ran into this but we ran into it in a best case scenario. Like we have everything we need to finish out Bell Week strong,” said Brown.
