Some students celebrate Lunar New Year while others do not. However, most know of the special occasion and how important it is to many of students’ cultures at Fountain Valley High School.
“I go to my family’s party on new years and I wish my uncles and aunts good luck and prosperity. I’m really excited for the party, not really the money because money isn’t everything,” said Nathan Do (’17). Photo by Steve Phan.
“I will be going to Calstate Fullerton and doing a campus tour… Technically, I don’t celebrate [Lunar New Year] so that’s what I’ll be doing instead,” said Lisa Rastogi (’16). Photo by Steve Phan.
“I just know you get a lot of money. I like the actual experience of Chinese New Year, but I know I’ll get lots of money this year, ” said Jason Bui (‘18). Photo by Viet Vu.
“I’m going to party with my family and were gonna celebrate with red envelopes and have a good time. The tradition is basically good luck for the new year, but I don’t really mind the money because honestly New Years is a great time with my family,” said Ryan Tran (‘16). Photo by Viet Vu.
“For Chinese New Year, I go to tet festival and hang out with friends. But I’m excited to receive money because I think my family wants me to have a good year and start with lots of wealth,” said Vikki Nguyen (‘18). Photo by Viet Vu.
