Homecoming is right around the corner and all students need to get cleared before it’s too late. In order to ensure clearance and eligibility to purchase homecoming tickets, here’s a helpful guide to ensure you get cleared in time.

There are several ways to ensure clearance—one of many is serving your detentions up in the supervision office after school. Every 30 minutes is equivalent to one detention, so detentions served in the supervision office must be served in 30 minute intervals. Students may come in anytime to serve detentions, as long as each detention is 30 minutes long. Detentions can’t be served partially.

If students possess old detentions they have yet to clear, they can serve them with any teacher who is willing to allow them to as well as serving in the supervision office.

Another option for clearance that supervision offers is 15 minutes lunchtime trash pickups. Students will arrange to serve during lunch and head over to the cafeteria to meet up with supervision at the beginning of lunch to get set up.

Other possible options for detention clearance are community service hours. Students may arrange to serve community service at a church or any kind of non-profit organization where you’re giving up your time for a project that you’re hopefully invested in. These community service hours must be served with service organizations and also must be recorded.

To record community service hours, students may come to the supervision office or go online to find a volunteer form. A form with verification is required for acceptance of community service hours. It must be recorded showing the time, date, location, organization, a signature of a person leading the volunteer service, and valid contact number.

Supervision will reward community service hours and allow them to be used towards clearing detentions and Saturday schools as well.

Unfortunately the date of the next Saturday school is Oct. 8, so if students were to clear on this date then they may not be eligible in time to purchase tickets online. Students may need to buy Homecoming tickets at the Financial Office if this occurs.

Online ticket sales begin Friday, Oct. 7. Be sure to get all of your detentions cleared by this date to be eligible to purchase your tickets online.

If you’re having any trouble or are confused about getting your detentions cleared, be sure to stop by the supervision office to consult Senior Secretary of Supervision, Dawn Basquez.
