With all the negativity in the world, the club, Acts of Random Kindness (ARK) attempts to spread positivity by distributing crafts made by students, for students.

Their purpose is to provide a resource and outlet for students to cope with their own conflicts. ARK is based on handmade crafts made by students to be given to other students.  They are fueled by a desire to make Fountain Valley High School (FVHS) a better place for students with a small note or package.

“Our goal is to do kind and uplifting things for the students on our campus. Every project we do is produced with our own efforts and desire to help make our school a better place for the students,” said Co-President Tiffany Lam (’17).

The club plans to impact students by making projects that spread kindness everywhere they go.  They aspire to show that they care for students and to make them feel better with things as simple as sticking cute and uplifting messages to lockers in hopes of making them feel better with whatever they are  going through.

ARK is a club that has restarted this year in hopes to conduct many projects for the school. They plan to help out with the Associated Student Body and other clubs to encourage kindness and school spirit.

“We hope that by the end of the year, we will have reached enough people to keep the movement going for the next year and for many years to come at FVHS,” said Lam (’17).

One of their current projects is creating hidden messages.  In the project, club members write short messages that are sweet or funny to uplift students’ spirits.  Once written, members distribute them around school to hide in lockers, or be given to a friend that needs to be cheered up.

By creating the hidden messages, we hope that it will benefit both the students who are taking their time to make these messages as well as the students who do receive these messages. We truly want these messages to have a positive and encouraging impact on students who, for example, might not be having the best day or might seem lonely in class. We hope that by having members distribute it around school, someone will find it, read it and hopefully have it brighten their day,” said Co-President Emily Tran (’17).

This year, the club aspires to gain as many students and new members as they can.  Their goal is to make kindness a normality around campus and spread kindness around the community.  They hope to have more activities (ARK-tivities) such as the Hidden Messages, Faculty Thank You Letters, Finals Week PARKages, etc. that will impact the student body and faculty and create a more positive environment around school.
