After Trump was elected president on Nov. 8, 2016, there were many controversial reactions that opposed and supported the results; we asked students of Fountain Valley High School where they stood with the results of the election.
“I think it’s pretty intense that Donald is our president because in my opinion they both have their cons. Hillary has the emails, Donald has his beliefs that not everyone agrees with. So it’s pretty intense… I don’t know what Hillary is hiding and I don’t really know all the information so I would vote for Donald,” said Brandon Zimmerman (‘19).
“I am really surprised. I feel like especially California, a lot of us expected for Hillary to win, so it’s kinda interesting to see that Donald Trump won… I would’ve voted for Hillary… My family is more Democratic. I believe, it depends on certain issues. Maybe economically, they would go more Republican sometimes, but overall we are pretty open-minded as a family. So, we believe in more progressive ideas versus Republican conservatism,” said Divya Seth (‘17).
“I feel like Hillary should have won. A lot of people said that the polls were rigged. [The results] should have been way closer [between Trump and Hillary]. I would vote for Hillary Clinton because Donald Trump says a lot of racist things. [My family] would definitely vote for Hillary,” said Isaiah Galloway (‘18).
“I didn’t really have a strong focal point on [the election], although I would not have expected Trump to win though… If I was able to vote, I would’ve definitely voted for Hillary Clinton, not because of the propaganda that say she’s the first woman that could’ve been president, but also I’d say her background. I focus more on her background and Trump’s background. I’d say compared to Trump’s, hers is the lesser evil I’d say,” said Danielle Cruz (‘20).
