Congratulations to Fountain Valley’s Virtual Enterprise business plan team. Katherine Chau, Thang Nguyen, Colin McGlinchey, Justin Nguyen, & Johnny Nguyen placed top in the county to move on to compete in the State Finals in Bakersfield. Good luck in January!
Not even the heavy rain could slow down the Junior Varsity and Varsity Lady Baron soccer teams on Thursday as they took on Estancia HS! In an exciting finish with only 10 minutes remaining, the FVHS JV girls soccer team finished off their opponents 4-3 on a game winning goal by Abby Edwards. Forward, Aliyah Lorsung-Gordon, topped the scoring with 2 goals and Taylor Smalley added another. The Varsity squad won 1-0 to stay undefeated! The lone goal was scored by senior/captain, Karley Duda. Goalkeepers Aysia Buendia & Kiana Flores recorded their 5th shutout of the season as the teams record improves to 6 – 0 – 1.
Make sure to come to the bowl at lunch today, the Fountain Valley Fire Department will be here in the bowl collecting unwrapped new toys for the Spark of Love Toy Drive. Let’s fill their truck Barons!
Happy Holidays Barons! Before you go away, FVHS Theatre would like to let you know that auditions for the spring musical, The Music Man will begin right away after break on January 3rd after school. You don’t need any experience, just a desire to do something fun and awesome. Audition information will be available at fvhstheatre.com over break. We hope to see you there.

Tutor.com is a highly useful tool for all students, especially the athletic students and active students who can’t make it to regular tutoring sessions. It has over 30 academic subjects, including AP subjects and foreign languages.

Congratulations to the Mock Trial Team for an amazing competition season! The team finished strong in the top 8 among more than 30 teams in all of Orange County. Kyla Alberto, Hannah Brine, Evelyn Hoang, Jane Liu, Taylor Nguyen, Alan Phan, Sasha Stepanov, Seth Caraballo, Divya Seth, Brigitte Doan, and Ally Lenguyen, who all received recognition for notable performances last week in rounds 5 and 6. Congratulations, Mock Trial!
This Friday we will still support the Spark of Love Toy Drive. During lunch the Fountain Valley Fire Department will be here in the bowl collecting any unwrapped new toys that our campus has to donate. Let’s fill their truck Barons!

ABC7 and Southern California Firefighters are celebrating the 24th year of the “Spark of Love Toy Drive.” Please consider making a difference and bring an unwrapped toy to drop off as you enter the gym.

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Basketball team who broke 2 school defensive team records in their 68-3 win over Bethel Christian. Stacy Truong led all scorers with 12 points, Tiffany Shimizu contributed 5 rebounds and 3 assists, and Sara Lacher added 5 steals and 4 rebounds.
Boys’ Basketball won again with Josh Gray scoring 12 points, Mike Lightbody with 11, Adam Trounce with 7, Garrett Young with 6, Cody Newsome with 5, and Sean Huynh with 4. Congrats on all your hard work boys.

A GIANT congratulations to the mock trial team who won last night against Woodbridge high school. The prosecution team killed it leading the team to a 5 and 0 record. Our undefeated team is now in the top 8 in all of Orange County. Good luck tomorrow night, defense team and, as always, Go Big Red!
Congratulations to Fountain Valley’s Virtual Enterprise Class Off the Grid. They placed in every event at the San Diego Trade Fair. They took top scores in: Booth, Sales, Catalog, Commercial, Flyer, and Website. Good luck at the next competition.
Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball team who knocked off #1 seed ACE High School with a 67-24 win in the Cal Baptist tournament. The team was led by Megan Hughes who grabbed 9 rebounds, Cassie Vega who had 7 rebounds and 1 assist and Emily White who scored 13 points despite an ear infection.
Fountain Valley Girls Soccer Varsity team remains undefeated as they win their 4th match of the season with a 1-0 victory over Ocean View HS. Sam Valdez scored the Barons loan goal while outstanding defensive play preserved the shutout. The JV team won its second game of the year with a convincing 4-0 win. Outstanding defensive play by defender, Ashley McNeil & goalkeeper, (Haley) Quara Ali. Goal scorers were Hannah Binggeli, Rosalyn Smith, Micaela Villafuerte & Grace Volkert.

A HUGE congratulations to the Mock Trial team! The defense team crushed Troy high school’s team last Thursday. Mock Trial is now undefeated and ranked in the top 16 in Orange County! Special recognition awarded to Kyla Alberto, Ryan Ash, Hannah Brine, Helen Dang Vu, Evelyn Hoang, Jane Liu, Taylor Nguyen, Seth Caraballo, Brigitte Doan, Ian Hsu, Ally Lenguyen, Divya Seth, and Kaitlyn Truong. Good luck at playoffs tomorrow night mock trial! Go Big Red!
Boys’ Basketball continues to win. After a heart-breaking overtime loss in the semis, your Barons came back the next morning with a resounding team victory. Garrett Young led the scoring with 16 points, Seniors Cody Newsome and Mike Lightbody combined for 21 points and the Player of the Game was senior Nate Le with 8 clutch points and tough defense. The boys enter their second tournament this week at CDM with a winning record.
Congratulations to the FVHS Girls varsity soccer team for winning both matches this past Saturday in the Ocean View Classic. A 1-0 victory over Los Amigos and a 2-1 win over Laguna Beach High School puts the Lady Barons on top of the group and extends their unbeaten streak to 3 matches.
The tournament continues next Saturday with the squad taking on Laguna Hills.
Congratulations to the varsity boys soccer team for staying undefeated by beating Foothill 3-0. Ethan Mack scored his third goal of the season. Ryan Sapp scored his second and Ulu Hamouri-Davis finished off the scoring with his first goal of the season. The boys travel to undefeated Santa Ana Wednesday. Good luck!
