FVHS Vocal Music concert happens this Friday, December 9 at the Calvary Church of Santa Ana.by Maria Gerges & Trevor Sonoda, Staff Writers
‘Tis the season for the annual Fountain Valley High School holiday choir concert. Taking place Friday, this concert will be markedly different from last year’s concert. While traditional holiday music will be performed, this year the songs will be more upbeat with a touch of jazz thrown in for good measure and don’t be surprised to see some of the singers do a bit of dancing.
All choirs will be performing songs that reflect the jazz theme. Even some of the traditional songs will be inflected with a bit of jazz.
The boys from all the choirs will perform a surprise song that’s going to be different from all the other songs that will be sung on that night. The audience should be on the lookout for this song which will definitely put them in a good mood.
All the choirs, more than a 100 students, will come together to perform another unique piece that will undoubtedly encourage the audience to sing along and feel the warm and cozy holiday atmosphere.
“I have been preparing this concert since July,” said Tison. “It’s my favorite music of the year.”
The preparation for Deck the Halls with a Little Jazz started in earnest a couple of days right after October’s Hope. Light. Love. concert. In just two months, choir members mastered difficult songs and learned choreography. On some days, the students would give an outstanding performance in class. On other days, their confidence didn’t shine as bright. However, they knew what they needed to work on and strived for it.
Tell your friends and family about this incredible opportunity to get into the holiday spirit. You can come and relax for the joy of the holidays. This will definitely make you want to jump in time for the holidays to enjoy the season with all your loved ones. There will be eggnog, decked halls, snow and little drummer boys so come with attentive ears and open hearts.
