Applications for the Coronets Awards are now available on FVHS.com. Students who would like to be nominated for a Coronet award should fill out the Google form available online. All applications must be submitted by no later than Sunday March 19, 2017 at 11:59PM.
Yearbook is selling Senior Salutations to celebrate our graduating class. Half-pages are being sold for $200 and full pages are $300 until March 10th. Congratulations to February Clubs of the Month: Friday Night Live and Make-A-Wish!
Congratulations to our Boys Volleyball team for getting first place this past weekend in the annual Tustin Tournament. The boys played great, outstanding players were Jake Loudenback, Luke Davis, Cody Newsome, Downey Huynh, Matthew Gemeinhardt, Ben Minch and Cameron Nakashima. Come out and support your boys in their upcoming games as it looks to be a very promising season.
The Barons Baseball team opened their season with two wins against El Modena HS. The Barons won 4-3 in the first game. Jared Brand, Isaac Campbell and Justin Yang combined to throw a no hitter and Justin Mazzone broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the 6th to put the Barons up 4-3. The Barons won the second game 6-2 featuring back to back home runs by Parker Smith and Conrad Villafuerte. The Barons begin the Loara Tournament this Thursday at Glover Field at 300pm against trinity league rival Santa Margarita.
Congratulations to our hard-working, amazing, Pep Squad Comp teams! They competed yesterday at the Long Beach Pyramid for King of the Bleachers where JV Cheer came in second place and Varsity Song came in first! Amazing job ladies!
Congratulations to Karson Ayres for qualifying for the CIF state meet next week! He will be competing with some of the very best in the nation so we want to wish him luck! Also congrats to Merrick O’donnell for a valiant effort and only needing one match to qualify. And also great job to George Sykes for competing this past weekend! Go Barons!
The track teams competed at the Mustang Roundup at Trabuco Hills HS on Saturday. Cora Davis had a strong start finishing second in the 100 meters. Courtney Moreno won the triple jump, Amanda May finished third in shot put and forth in the discus, and Ashley Faller finished 6th in the mile. Top newcomer Keely Togafau finished second in the shot put at the frosh/soph level. The boys were led by Nathan Willoughby finishing second in the 300 hurdles, David Straw finished second in the high jump and first in the triple jump, and Anthony Meneses finished forth in shot put and discus. Kishaun Sykes dominated frosh soph in the 100 and 200 meters.

The event will take place the evening of Saturday, March 25th…. with a special guest judge – Madilyn Paige, a finalist from Season 6 of The Voice, performing with team USHER and team BLAKE! Congratulations to the wrestling team for finishing top 8 and advancing 3 wrestlers to masters next week. George Sykes placed 6th, Merrick O’donnell placed 2nd and Karson Ayres became a 2x CIF champion and a 4x cif placer. Karson is also the schools only 4x league champion!
This past Sunday the dance team hosted a USA dance competition here on our campus with over 20 other high schools In attendance. The event was a huge success for FVHS! Our teams competed as well and all 3 hip hop teams, small lyrical and jazz have now qualified for the championship division at USA nationals.

Congrats to our own Academic Decathlon team for cleaning up at the county level over the weekend! After battling their way into Division 1, the team was able to come home with an astounding 32 individual medals! Huge shout out to all team members! Great job!”
Our Hip Hop dance teams competed at The Miss Dance Drill Street Dance competition this past Saturday against the best hip hop teams in Southern California. Small HipHop placed third, and the medium team placed 1st! In the duet category, Heaven Cha and Tommy Nguyen Placed First! In the all male free style solo category, Tommy placed in the top 5! An amazing job by all performers.

Congratulations to the varsity boys soccer team with their impressive 6-2 victory over Newport Harbor. Ethan Mack scored his 10th and 11th goal of the season. Ulu Hammouri-Davis and Richard Montes started the scoring off with two quick goals in the first 3 minutes of the game. Andre Nguyen finished off the scoring with the barons 6th goal of the game. The win gives the boys a chance for the playoffs. Good luck

If trapped in an abusive relationship, 73% of teens said they would turn to a friend for help; but only 33% who have been in or known about an abusive relationship said they have told anyone about it. Congrats to the Lady Barons Frosh and JV Basketball teams on an amazing victory over Newport Harbor this past Tuesday. Frosh won 41 to 4 and JV won 33-30. Varsity lost a close one, 40-34. All the girls put in a tremendous effort. Come out to Los Al tonight for their final game of the season; Frosh plays at 4:00, JV plays at 5:30, and Varsity plays at 7. Keep up the great work ladies.
Girls Soccer finished Sunset League competition yesterday. The ‘lady’ Baron JV squad had another strong defensive performance holding Newport Harbor HS scoreless in a 0-0 tie.
Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Soccer team for capturing their 4th Sunset League victory in the last 5 games! Fountain Valley led 1-0 on Marissa Lynch’s strike. Newport Harbor tied the game but it was not for long as Kylie Wilson put the Barons ahead 2-1. Marissa then put the game out of reach for the Sailors with her second goal of the game making it 3-1. The defense did the rest and preserved the win! Great Job Barons!
Congratulations to all Future Business Leaders of America competitors at this past weekend’s Southern Section Leadership Conference. Special congratulations to the following FBLA members: Amy Shen 4th place in Economics and 9th place in Accounting; Kyla Alberto, 9th place in Insurance and Risk Management; Wilny Duong, Matt Gemeinhardt, and Ashley Luu took 5th place in Hospitality Management; Jasmine Pham and Cole Spalter, 2nd place in Management Decision Making and Matt Gemeinhardt and Adam Mancini, who took 6th place in Sports & Entertainment Management. They are only $10 so come check them out and show your support against teen dating violence.
Congrats to our wrestling team dominating the Sunset League Tournament last night. Your Barons advanced 12 wrestlers to CIF. The three Champions were sophomore, Jack O’Donnell, senior, Merick O’Donnell and finally 4 time Sunset League Champion Karson Ayres ! Great job Barons!
Our Lady Barons Frosh/Soph and JV basketball teams had another amazing victory over Huntington Beach last night. Frosh continued their winning streak by beating Huntington Beach 41 to 25. JV beat Huntington Beach 40 to 31 with outstanding efforts made by Nicole Wilson, Bao-Tran Phu, and Stacy Truong. Keep up the great work ladies.
